Welcome to the St. Mary's School 7th grade Tree Identification Site. This project was made possible through a grant written by Dr. Bob Williams (SIU) and Dr. Marilyn  Lisowski (EIU) called TIE-Ins (Technology, Inquiry,  Environment - Investigation and Nature in Science). Our teacher, Mrs. Zvonar, received a digital camera and photo editing software. Our technology teacher, Mrs. Hartrich helped us to learn how to use the software and how to make a web site. Wendy Wilson let us use the trees on her property and taught us about trees. She also checked our identifications.

We collected leaf and seed samples, took the pictures and edited them, identified our trees, wrote our descriptions and edited them, learned how to use html, and posted our project on the web. We also made laminated tree cards with our leaves and seeds for other students in our school to use to help them to identify trees.

Our project will become part of the
University of Illinois Virtual Library. This will allow teachers and students from other schools to learn from our work. We have worked very hard all year on this project. We hope that you will learn from and enjoy our site.
