My family and I were led to St. Mary’s just 6 years ago when we moved here from Madison, Wisconsin. It has always felt like “home”, and I hope as a teacher at St. Mary’s School, I am able to help others feel as welcomed as I have felt. My hometown is a small town in Wisconsin, called Milton. The youngest of nine children—a big farm family--we were influenced by my mother’s love of the church and my sister who was severely retarded. Many of my family members grew up involved in some aspect of education, which I believe was fueled by years of making sure our sister was well-educated despite her special needs. My undergraduate degrees in education are in the
areas of Learning Disabilities and Mental Retardation, and my Master’s Over the past 15 years, my experiences as a teacher have been from small, rural districts to large, inner city settings, each providing much joy and learning. Raising a family with my husband, Dewey (children: Cassie, Brittany and Tanner) has helped me to gain insight into parenting and caring for children. I am currently involved with the Women of Faith group within our
parish, and have worked with Vacation Bible School. Taking part in the
November Cursillo weekend will be a highlight of this year. I look forward
to continuing to welcome others into the St. Mary’s faith family.
