Carrie Jimenez

The youngest of four, I was born and raised in the small town of Teutopolis, IL, otherwise known to those high school basketball fans as T-town, home of the wooden shoes. I graduated high school in 1995 and chose to attend Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville due its strong and widely recognized art education program. In 1999 I graduated SIUE with a Bachelor of Science in Art Education. Coming from a long line of educators, my mom always told me it was in my blood to be a teacher (I guess sometime our mother’s are right).

I then married my college sweetheart, Axel, in June 2000. It was off to my first home outside of Illinois to Killeen, Texas, where Axel was stationed as an Army officer and I began my career as an art educator at Harker Heights Elementary. I treasure the invaluable experiences gained while teaching over a three-year period. Upon completion of Axel’s military tour in 2003, he accepted an opportunity with Johnson and Johnson, which brought us back home to Illinois where we chose to settle in Bloomington. For the past three years I have chosen a different career---motherhood! We have been blessed with the love and joy of our lives- Ella Korrin born May 18, 2003 and Gabriel Douglas born October 10, 2005.

God has guided us on a wonderful path. We feel fortunate to have been led to such a great community and given the opportunity to teach my love for art to the children at St. Mary’s School. I thank Him for this new adventure and I could not be more excited to be a part of St. Mary’s and I would like to thank everyone for the warm welcome and making me feel at home!
