Twig: Gray to reddish-brown, finely
hairy, about 1/4 long
Bark: Moderately thick, dark brown
to grayish brown; 2.5-3.7 cm
Form: Open spread, ovoid (40-60 ft. high; 20-40 feet wide)
Discussion:
Uses: City landscaping, food, habitat, fence posts, and furniture.
Origin: North America
Distribution: Northwestern United
States; Rich woods and hill slopes; Massachusetts across to Manitoba and
South Dakota, Southern Oklahoma, Alabama and Virginia; Zones: 2 to 9
